Heads or Tails?

By definition, an ethical dilemma is a situation in which a difficult choice has to be made between two courses of action, with a fifty-fifty chance. Oftentimes, these circumstances are complicated challenges that cannot be easily solved, unlike cases of moral dilemmas which result in rather straightforward solutions. Therefore, the ability to find the optimal solution in such situations is critical to everyone.

There are three main conditions that must be present for a situation to be considered an ethical dilemma.

  1. The individual must make a decision about which course of action is best.

  2. There must be different courses of action to choose from.

  3. There is no perfect solution.

Every person may encounter an ethical dilemma in almost every aspect of their life, including personal, social, and professional.

Have you ever had someone take credit for your work? Have you ever been forced to choose between two friends? Have you ever had to choose between the good of your friends or family but sacrificing your own comfort?
